As part of their international strategy, SERC has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CEO Gary McBlain from EBL Global Ltd as their second international recruitment representative to help enrol Chinese students.

CEO Gary McBlain will now be SERC’s second official representative in China and last week visited the college to officially sign the agreement. During his visit Gary toured the Lisburn Campus and got the opportunity to speak to students, lecturers and staff.

SERC Head of quality, excellence and development Claire Henderson said “This exciting milestone recognises our continuing focus on promoting SERC on a global scale and we look forward to the partnership developing over the years.

“Our international strategy is to seek opportunities through the development of sustainable global partnerships. The College has been actively seeking to broaden these connections into countries where English is not the main native language and with Gary now on board, we will be able to do just that. Otherwise such students would be impossible for us to reach”.

The company will primarily serve as an information, recruitment and admissions center for prospective Chinese students. Other activities will include promoting SERC, identifying and shortlisting suitable candidates to study at SERC, assisting with the application procedure, interviews and visa applications.

SERC international officer Zia Nazar said: “Gary will not only sell SERC to prospective students he will also help them make the transition to Northern Ireland, through informally sharing his cultural insights and experiences as well as help them to navigate and interpret information.”

SERC principal Ken Webb said, “It is testimony to the growing reputation of SERC that we have been successful in developing this partnership and other successful partnerships throughout the years. I have great pleasure in signing the Service Agreement as we strengthen our international partnership with China.”
